Cheshire West and Chester Council have Objected to Peel’s Proposal

Sign Graham Evans MP’s Petition to save Frodsham Marshes HERE

Cheshire West and Chester Council have formally objected to the proposal on the following grounds:

  • Green Belt The proposal would site the second-largest onshore wind farm in England entirely within a prime area of Green Belt.
  • Visual Amenity More than 6,000 homes and some 14,000 people would be within 2km of the turbines. The inhabitants of two farmhouses would be living in a wind farm landscape.
  • Landscape Character The application fails to respond adequately to the guidance in two highly-relevant Supplementary Planning Documents.
  • Wildlife The application is severely detrimental to a Ramsar Site/SPA/SSSI and a Grade “A” Site of Biological Interest. Both the RSPB and Natural England have objected.
  • Heritage Assets The setting of the pre-historic promontory fort on Helsby Hill would be adversely affected. The National Trust have objected
  • Noise Both total and low frequency noise impacts are unacceptable
  • Major Hazard Plants Two such plants may be at risk from blade throw. The Health and Safety Executive has reserved the right to object.
  • Airport Safety The proposal raises air traffic control radar issues. Both Hawarden and Liverpool John Lennon Airports have objected.
  • Visual Amenity The viewpoint is Churchfields, which is within a conservation area in Frodsham, and is 1.5km from the proposed wind farm.
  • Heritage Assets The viewpoint is the pre-historic promontory fort on Helsby Hill which is 1.7km from the proposed wind farm.
  • The proposal is clearly outrageous on planning grounds but, because the applicant makes a very dubious claim to a capacity greater than 50MW, the law says that, if he continues with his application, a public inquiry must be held. We are about to waste considerable human and financial resource, both centrally and locally, on a worthless proposal.

Airbus are objecting to plans to build a Windfarm in Frodsham.

Nov 10 2011by Rachel Flint, Flintshire Chronicle

AIRBUS are objecting to plans to build 19 80-metre turbines on Frodsham Marshes, off the M56, which they say will cause an ‘unacceptable safety risk’ to their operations.

Despite a deal being reached between Peel Energy and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Airbus in Hawarden are continuing to object to the Frodsham Windfarm application. Read more…….

Below is a visualisation presentation on how the farm could look, bear in mind also that Peel are now deliberating on using larger turbines. If the planning of larger turbines are being considered at the onset of planning how long will it be before Peel upgrade to even larger turbines? Is this wind farm just a foot in the door for further and larger development on what is still effectively a greenfield site?

If you want to download it Click here for the video above which illustrates the effects of this proposal

Peel have submitted their formal application for consent to build the wind farm. See HERE

This site is being developed in response to the proposed Building of a 20 turbine Wind Farm on Frodsham Marshes by Peel Energy

BBC – Radio 4 program – ‘Wind Rush’ broadcast 30th August 2007 ‘Experts interviewed on Costing the Earth claim the power of the wind to deliver electricity is being overestimated by companies keen to cash in on big subsidies.’(see the video by Nigel Farage here )

Do you really want to see this in your back garden? Now Peel want to make these even bigger, this could be to make you think that the smaller turbine would be more acceptable!Clip from The Politics show shown 6th December 2009

Please view the video below

Disintegrating Turbine

Imagine if this would happen to the nearest wind turbine off Marsh Lane, it would effectively bring the M56 to a halt and probably destroy, injure or there could even  be loss of someones of life in Frodsham. This video shows the impact on an area of 4.5 miles, these turbines will be even bigger so the collateral damage could be worse. Also don’t forget that the prevailing winds are normally westerlies therefore the danger of collateral damage to Frodsham will be higher. The case for not siting these turbines near to dwellings is strong.

Help me stop the wind farm on the Frodsham and Helsby marshes

Dec 3 2009 by Paul Mannion, Chester Chronicle

Tony Hinkins

A PROTESTER has launched a public campaign against Peel Energy’s £50m wind farm proposal on the Frodsham and Helsby marshes.

Frodsham town councillor Tony Hinkins is calling for residents to rally against the plans and last week launched his campaign – distributing leaflets highlighting ‘the other side of the story’ – to coincide with Peel’s exhibitions. “We need people who can help us lobby at all points in the decision-making process,” said Cllr Hinkins. “They are showing callous disregard for our communities.
These wind turbines will be 412ft – higher than the viewpoint from Frodsham Hill and higher than the tallest electricity pylon on the marshes.

“Their monstrous presence and their flickering as the blades rotate would be unacceptable. Noise from the turbines would also impact on residents and if they appear between homes and transmitters, television reception could be degraded.” The group, which has not been named yet, is still in its early stages but Cllr Hinkins hopes the communities of Frodsham, Helsby and Elton will join him. “We believe that in ten years’ time, wind energy will be seen as a passing fad that had little value,” he added. “We must not let things that are truly valuable to us be taken away in the current panic to satisfy government targets.

“The marshes may not look pretty but they are an important refuge for tens of thousands of birds and a key section of the green land, separating industry on either side – and when it is lost, it is lost forever. “When this wind farm comes to the end of its life, who knows what could turn up in its place? A monster wind farm destroying our environment and important landscape – is this what you want?”
